Papua New Guinea was Mission Aviation Fellowship's (MAF) first area of operation and they have been working to help the developing country for over 55 years.
Hundreds of isolated communities have received the gospel of Christ through the work of missionaries and national pastors. These people relied on MAF as their only means of contact with the outside world. Now MAF are working with national churches and communities around 350 airstrips. They help meet the needs of local church pastors, teachers, students and medical staff. They also do a lot of economic development work for isolated communities.
MAF has also done more for the aviation industry in PNG than any other operator. Their work in pioneering new airstrips is matched by the contribution they have made through their training programs. MAF-trained professionals are scattered throughout the aviation industry in PNG today. Some are already leaders in their fields.
